Even though the use of generative AI has sparked a lot of controversy in terms of creating image, text or video content, Square Enix is planning to promote the use of AI.
The maker of the Final Fantasy game series plans to aggressively implement artificial intelligence and various other advanced technologies this year. According to Square Enix President Takashi Kiryu, AI will be used to create new forms of content.
“Artificial intelligence and its potential implications have often been the subject of academic debate. However, the introduction of ChatGPT, which allows anyone to easily produce writing, translation or interact dialogue in text form, has triggered the rapid spread of generative AI. I believe that generative AI has endless potential just to change what we make, but to fundamentally change the process, including programming,” wrote Kiryu, in his open letter.
This means that Square Enix will start using AI to increase productivity in development and help with marketing.
“In the long term, we hope to be able to utilize this technology to create new content for consumers, because we consider that technological innovation can generate business opportunities,” he added.
The Japanese company also plans to create more immersive AR and VR experiences, including creating new forms of content that can trigger both the real and virtual worlds.
AI Is Rule The Game Maker
Square Enix did not specifically say that AI would be used to create content such as characters, sounds, environmental atmosphere, or the like. It looks like this artificial intelligence is for general use.
Plus, Square Enix in its history has also announced similar things regarding blockchain, NFT, and Web 3.0. However, until now there has been no clear application of this technology.
