Players swing from precariously placed vines, leap across crumbling bridges, and narrowly escape collapsing structures, all while keeping their trigger finger ready. The action is meticulously choreographed and exhilarating, leaving players on the edge of their seats, eager to see what daring feat Drake will attempt next.

Cruising Through the Gears: Gran Turismo – A Celebration of Automotive Passion

The roar of an engine awakening, the asphalt blurring beneath your tires, the sun glinting off a perfectly sculpted curve – these are the sensory symphonies that Gran Turismo orchestrates. More than just a racing game, Gran Turismo is a love letter to the automobile, a digital cathedral where petrolheads congregate and horsepower hymns reverberate.

Since its 1997 debut, Gran Turismo has carved its own lane in the racing genre. While arcade racers focused on over-the-top spectacle, Gran Turismo dared to be different. It prioritized realism, meticulously replicating the handling, performance, and even the emotional connection one develops with a cherished car. Every purr of the engine, every squeal of the tires, felt like a conversation, a dialogue between driver and machine.

This dedication to authenticity extends beyond the cockpit. Gran Turismo boasts one of the most extensive car collections in gaming history, from legendary classics like the 1964 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe to futuristic hypercars like the Bugatti Chiron. Each vehicle feels distinct, demanding respect and mastery. No two cars handle the same, no two races unfold identically. This depth ensures that Gran Turismo is not just a game of reflexes, but a test of understanding, a dance between driver and digital steed.

But Gran Turismo’s journey isn’t solely about collecting trophies and setting lap records. It’s about the pilgrimage, the gradual ascent through the ranks, from humble hatchbacks to fire-breathing GT3 beasts. Each win feels like a personal triumph, a testament to honed skills and countless laps burned into the virtual tarmac. And when you finally conquer that seemingly insurmountable corner, the rush of adrenaline is as real as the sweat beading on your brow.

The game’s meticulous attention to detail adds another layer of immersion. Weather systems transform tracks from sun-drenched playgrounds to treacherous ice rinks. Time of day influences not just lighting but also track temperature, demanding constant adaptation. This environmental dynamism ensures that every lap is a fresh challenge, a test of not just speed but also adaptability and resilience.

Of course, Gran Turismo isn’t a solitary pursuit. The online landscape pulsates with competition, from friendly track battles with friends to white-knuckled championship races against the world’s best. The thrill of outmaneuvering a skilled opponent, the agony of a last-corner defeat, the camaraderie of celebrating a hard-fought victory – these shared experiences bind the Gran Turismo community together, forging friendships forged in asphalt and fueled by a shared passion for cars.

So, buckle up and prepare to immerse yourself in the world of Gran Turismo. It’s more than just a racing game; it’s a celebration of automotive passion, a gateway to a virtual garage overflowing with automotive dreams. It’s a journey of self-discovery, a constant quest to push your limits and refine your skills. And above all, it’s a reminder that the open road, whether digital or real, beckons to be explored, one exhilarating gear shift at a time.

The Beautiful Game: A Journey Through the Digital Pitch of FIFA

Football, soccer, the beautiful game – call it what you will, its magic transcends borders and languages. But for millions across the globe, the joy of football extends beyond the green field, spilling onto the virtual pitch of the FIFA video game series. More than just a game, FIFA has become a cultural phenomenon, a digital arena where dreams are crafted, skills are honed, and rivalries are born.

From its humble beginnings as a pixelated kickabout in 1993, FIFA has evolved into a breathtaking spectacle of athleticism and artistry. Every new iteration pushes the boundaries of realism, capturing the electrifying atmosphere of packed stadiums, the delicate touch of world-renowned players, and the heart-stopping drama of last-minute goals. With each virtual kick of the ball, FIFA whisks you away to the heart of the action, transforming you from a spectator to a maestro, orchestrating your team to glory.

FIFA is no longer a football game

But FIFA’s brilliance lies not just in its technical prowess. It’s the tapestry of stories woven within its code. The underdog rising from the ranks, the teenager blossoming into a superstar, the team of friends conquering the online world – these narratives unfold with each controller vibration, each pixelated roar of the crowd. The game becomes a canvas, and the players, both digital and human, the artists, etching their triumphs and defeats onto the digital pitch.

Yet, FIFA is more than just individual glory. It’s a testament to the power of community. Millions connect online, banding together under the banners of their favorite clubs, forging friendships and rivalries that transcend the digital realm. From coordinated tiki-taka passing moves to nail-biting penalty shootouts, the shared experience of virtual competition binds players together in a global footballing fraternity.

Of course, no FIFA journey is complete without its fair share of controversies. Errant referees, dodgy physics, and online lag can turn a passionate gamer into a red-faced rage monster. But even these quirks contribute to the game’s unique charm. They become shared battle scars, war stories whispered within online lobbies, adding a layer of human imperfection to the otherwise polished digital world.

Ultimately, FIFA is a love letter to the beautiful game. It captures the essence of football’s raw emotion, its breathtaking skill, and its unifying power. It’s a playground where anyone can be Messi, Maradona, or even your local park legend. So, whether you’re a seasoned veteran or a wide-eyed rookie, step onto the virtual pitch, raise your controller aloft, and prepare to be swept away by the magic of FIFA. Remember, it’s not just a game – it’s a journey, a community, and a testament to the universal language of the beautiful game.

Indonesia Dominates Southeast Asia, Most Games Released on Steam

It’s really cool, Indonesia dominates Southeast Asia, as the country with the most games released on Steam. So far, there have been 256 titles that have visited the platform made by Valve.

Quoted by GameStation from X/Twitter Virtual SEAsia, Thursday (11/1/2024), Indonesia has always filled this top position over the past few years. If you look at the brief data shared by Kris Antoni, Founder and CEO of Toge Productions, it turns out that since 2019 local games in Indonesia have been leading.

Even the number of games launched each year has quite a difference, when compared to countries in Southeast Asia. The countries in question are Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, Myanmar and Brunei.

Continuing, in second place is Thailand which is experiencing rapid growth. They managed to catch up with Singapore, which usually overshadows Indonesia every year, regarding the release of games on Steam.

A total of 158 indie games have been released in Thailand. Meanwhile, Singapore is in third place with a total of 134 games they have presented.

The following is a detailed ranking of countries in Southeast Asia whose games are released on Steam:

1.Indonesia – 256 games

2.Thailand – 158 games

3.Singapore – 134 games

4.Philippines – 92 games

5.Malaysia – 80 games

6.Vietnam – 40 games

7.Brunei – 7 games

8.Myanmar – 5 games

Unfortunately, Virtual SEA does not provide information about Indonesia’s ranking outside Southeast Asia. Maybe because their focus is only on collecting data on indie games in this region.

Even so, of course this is proof that the gaming industry in the country is growing. Plus various achievements that have been obtained by local game studios.

In 2023, local games entitled A Space for the Unbound by Mojiken, Rendezvous by Pendopo Creations, and Unplug by Goldlime Studios won awards at Level Up KL.

For A Space for the Unbound, it successfully won the Best Story Telling title. Unplug won in the Audience Choice Award category. Lastly, Rendezvous won two awards at once, namely the Grand Jury Award and Best Visual Art categories.

Very Sophisticated! PS5 Joystick Can Now Drive Afeela Electric Cars

Sony showed something extraordinary at the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, United States. Because the PS5 controller, namely DualSense, can apparently be used to drive Afeela car.

This sophistication was demonstrated directly by Izumi Kawanishi, Boss of Sony Honda Mobility. At that time he wanted to show off an electric car created by Sony and Honda, which was named Afeela.

The feature-rich DualSense controller remotely pilots Afeela to bring her to center stage. Then the headlights illuminated the dark stage, and the camera installed in the cabin proved that the vehicle did not have a hidden driver.

However, here Kawanishi immediately clarified that the sophistication of the DualSense that he showed was merely a technology demo. The aim is to show that the software can determine new functions and values, as reported by Game Station from Gamerant, Thursday (11/1/2024).

Apart from being able to drive with DualSense, Kawanishi also wants to highlight the artificial intelligence (AI) he embedded in Afeela. This technology can be used to help drive the car automatically.

Afeela The Car Control By PS5 Joystick

Not only that, Afeela is also equipped with an Advanced Driver Assist System (ADAS) Simulator, which runs Epic Games’ game engine, namely Unreal Engine 5. Its role here is to display a road map with three-dimensional (3D) visuals.

The trick of presenting Afeela with DualSense certainly impresses people. How could it not be, this is like the opposite of PlayStation’s technology, namely PSVR2. Instead of presenting an immersive virtual world, Sony actually shows directly how sophisticated its hardware (DualSense) is in the real world.

Some people might be a little disappointed, because the ability to control a car with a PS5 controller is just a demo, not for real sale. But from here people can see that DualSense has a variety of functions that can be integrated apart from playing games.

Viral on TikTok, War Veteran Good at Playing Battlefield 2042

Good seems to be the right word to describe this gamer’s abilities. However, it wasn’t just his skill that made him go viral, there was something else.

How could it not be, the gamer’s age is currently 71 years old. The gamer in question is a shooting game streamer. He is usually known as GrndPaGaming.

GrndPaGaming said he did not want to reveal his real name. He said this was done to avoid harassment.

Furthermore, netizens were excited by him, because Grandpa uploaded a short video, showing his prowess in playing Battlefield 2042. There he repeatedly got a headshot (a technique for killing an opponent by shooting the head).

Of course, after the FYP video on TikTok, many netizens gave various reactions. Most of them praised his skill in playing this shooting game made by DICE, which was published by Electronic Arts.

In fact, quite a few Indonesian netizens also commented on TikTok. One of them, from an account called Rois, thinks that this grandfather is better than himself.

“His aim is really hard. It’s different from me, whose aim is bad,” he said.

Until this news was written, the 50 second video had received more than 7.8 million views, 578.9 thousand likes, commented on by 5,058 people, and the content was saved 45.8 thousand times. It is likely that the numbers will continue to increase.

The Veteran Never Wrong

It seems that his greatness is a legacy of what he did when he was young. GrndPaGaming revealed that he had served in the United States Navy for 20 years.

During that time, he served in several regions such as Korea, Vietnam, Japan, Guam and Palembang. Therefore, his military background became the source of his grandfather’s love for first person shooter games.

Some of the games he likes include Fallout 4, Armored Warfare, World of Warships, World of Tanks, The Witcher 3, Battlefield 1, 2, 3 & 4, League of Legends, Doom and The Division, Apex Legends.

Ouch, Game Engine Unity Company Will Lay Off 1,800 Employees

The wave of layoffs in the gaming industry continues. This time the sad news came again from Unity.

The game engine company will reportedly send home 1,800 of its workers. That number is around 25 percent of its total employees, quoted by Game Station from Reuters, Wednesday (10/1/2023).

This is the largest layoff in history that Unity has ever experienced. They hope that the dismissal process can be completed by the end of March 2024.

“We are reducing the number of things we do to focus on our core business and drive long-term success and profitability,” interim CEO Jim Whitehurst wrote in an internal memo sent to all employees on January 8.

But here Whitehurst does not provide specific details regarding the structural changes that will occur in Unity. Only a company spokesperson confirmed that there will indeed be updates in the future.

Yes, Whitehurst is the new CEO of Unity, after the previous John Ricetello decided to resign. This was done after the new policy issue which was protested by many game developers around the world.

The root of the problem lies in the new payment scheme which uses a pay per download system. In this scheme, Unity will charge fees for using the game engine based on the number of game installations, and it is said that this concept will be implemented on January 1, 2024.

As additional information, this is the fourth round of layoffs carried out by the company. More than 1,100 people were laid off in 2023, preceded by at least 200 layoffs in June 2022.

These latest layoffs continue a bad trend in the video game industry, which saw around six thousand jobs lost by 2023. It doesn’t look like things will get any better in 2024.
