Indonesia Dominates Southeast Asia, Most Games Released on Steam

It’s really cool, Indonesia dominates Southeast Asia, as the country with the most games released on Steam. So far, there have been 256 titles that have visited the platform made by Valve.

Quoted by GameStation from X/Twitter Virtual SEAsia, Thursday (11/1/2024), Indonesia has always filled this top position over the past few years. If you look at the brief data shared by Kris Antoni, Founder and CEO of Toge Productions, it turns out that since 2019 local games in Indonesia have been leading.

Even the number of games launched each year has quite a difference, when compared to countries in Southeast Asia. The countries in question are Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, Myanmar and Brunei.

Continuing, in second place is Thailand which is experiencing rapid growth. They managed to catch up with Singapore, which usually overshadows Indonesia every year, regarding the release of games on Steam.

A total of 158 indie games have been released in Thailand. Meanwhile, Singapore is in third place with a total of 134 games they have presented.

The following is a detailed ranking of countries in Southeast Asia whose games are released on Steam:

1.Indonesia – 256 games

2.Thailand – 158 games

3.Singapore – 134 games

4.Philippines – 92 games

5.Malaysia – 80 games

6.Vietnam – 40 games

7.Brunei – 7 games

8.Myanmar – 5 games

Unfortunately, Virtual SEA does not provide information about Indonesia’s ranking outside Southeast Asia. Maybe because their focus is only on collecting data on indie games in this region.

Even so, of course this is proof that the gaming industry in the country is growing. Plus various achievements that have been obtained by local game studios.

In 2023, local games entitled A Space for the Unbound by Mojiken, Rendezvous by Pendopo Creations, and Unplug by Goldlime Studios won awards at Level Up KL.

For A Space for the Unbound, it successfully won the Best Story Telling title. Unplug won in the Audience Choice Award category. Lastly, Rendezvous won two awards at once, namely the Grand Jury Award and Best Visual Art categories.

Very Sophisticated! PS5 Joystick Can Now Drive Afeela Electric Cars

Sony showed something extraordinary at the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, United States. Because the PS5 controller, namely DualSense, can apparently be used to drive Afeela car.

This sophistication was demonstrated directly by Izumi Kawanishi, Boss of Sony Honda Mobility. At that time he wanted to show off an electric car created by Sony and Honda, which was named Afeela.

The feature-rich DualSense controller remotely pilots Afeela to bring her to center stage. Then the headlights illuminated the dark stage, and the camera installed in the cabin proved that the vehicle did not have a hidden driver.

However, here Kawanishi immediately clarified that the sophistication of the DualSense that he showed was merely a technology demo. The aim is to show that the software can determine new functions and values, as reported by Game Station from Gamerant, Thursday (11/1/2024).

Apart from being able to drive with DualSense, Kawanishi also wants to highlight the artificial intelligence (AI) he embedded in Afeela. This technology can be used to help drive the car automatically.

Afeela The Car Control By PS5 Joystick

Not only that, Afeela is also equipped with an Advanced Driver Assist System (ADAS) Simulator, which runs Epic Games’ game engine, namely Unreal Engine 5. Its role here is to display a road map with three-dimensional (3D) visuals.

The trick of presenting Afeela with DualSense certainly impresses people. How could it not be, this is like the opposite of PlayStation’s technology, namely PSVR2. Instead of presenting an immersive virtual world, Sony actually shows directly how sophisticated its hardware (DualSense) is in the real world.

Some people might be a little disappointed, because the ability to control a car with a PS5 controller is just a demo, not for real sale. But from here people can see that DualSense has a variety of functions that can be integrated apart from playing games.

Viral on TikTok, War Veteran Good at Playing Battlefield 2042

Good seems to be the right word to describe this gamer’s abilities. However, it wasn’t just his skill that made him go viral, there was something else.

How could it not be, the gamer’s age is currently 71 years old. The gamer in question is a shooting game streamer. He is usually known as GrndPaGaming.

GrndPaGaming said he did not want to reveal his real name. He said this was done to avoid harassment.

Furthermore, netizens were excited by him, because Grandpa uploaded a short video, showing his prowess in playing Battlefield 2042. There he repeatedly got a headshot (a technique for killing an opponent by shooting the head).

Of course, after the FYP video on TikTok, many netizens gave various reactions. Most of them praised his skill in playing this shooting game made by DICE, which was published by Electronic Arts.

In fact, quite a few Indonesian netizens also commented on TikTok. One of them, from an account called Rois, thinks that this grandfather is better than himself.

“His aim is really hard. It’s different from me, whose aim is bad,” he said.

Until this news was written, the 50 second video had received more than 7.8 million views, 578.9 thousand likes, commented on by 5,058 people, and the content was saved 45.8 thousand times. It is likely that the numbers will continue to increase.

The Veteran Never Wrong

It seems that his greatness is a legacy of what he did when he was young. GrndPaGaming revealed that he had served in the United States Navy for 20 years.

During that time, he served in several regions such as Korea, Vietnam, Japan, Guam and Palembang. Therefore, his military background became the source of his grandfather’s love for first person shooter games.

Some of the games he likes include Fallout 4, Armored Warfare, World of Warships, World of Tanks, The Witcher 3, Battlefield 1, 2, 3 & 4, League of Legends, Doom and The Division, Apex Legends.

Steam Has a New Feature, You Can Hide Porn Games Or 18+ games

Valve announced that its game buying and selling store, Steam, has a new feature. This allows gamers to hide their 18+ games from others.

The feature was first discovered and shared by SteamDB designer Pavel Djundik. He revealed this via his personal Twitter account (8/11).

Based on Game Station monitoring from Twitter, Monday (11/13/2023), Djundik showed a photo showing how to do it. It can be seen that gamers can choose a feature called Mark as Private.

From the information in the image, after activating this feature, the game in question will not be able to be seen by friends. According to Djundik, this new option goes beyond Steam’s current privacy settings.

Unfortunately, not all gamers welcomed the arrival of this new privacy feature with joy. There is one camp that tells a joke, if gamers who dare to use it are labeled as cowards.

Then other camps have different opinions. According to them, the arrival of this feature could provide benefits for people who just want to enjoy dirty games in peace without having to accept ridicule.

“Finally now I can play hentai games without having to worry,” wrote one netizen.

“Soon you will be able to buy games from our catalog like The Kinky Kitsune and The Tantalizing Tanuki, without feeling publicly humiliated,” wrote online hentai distributor Fakku Games.

Most netizens thank Steam. This is because they don’t need to be embarrassed if they play 18+ games. But what do Gamers think about their newest privacy feature?
