For the first time, Pokemon GO will launch an Indonesian edition of Pokemon. Later in the game, Pikachu will wear a batik shirt.
“Indonesia is a very meaningful market for us, with loyal communities in all corners of the archipelago. So, we want to appreciate the trainers by combining Indonesian cultural heritage into Pokemon GO,” said Refael Siregar, Emerging Markets Head of APAC Niantic, from the official statement received by Game Station, Tuesday (16/1/2023).
This latest content is a form of collaboration carried out by Niantic with The Pokemon Company, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf), and Garuda Indonesia. Apart from that, they also present an exciting activity called Pikachu’s Indonesia Journey.
This will be the biggest Pokemon event ever held in Indonesia. The event will be held on March 2 to 3 2024, located at Puputan Renon Field, Denpasar, Bali.
Pikachu’s Indonesia Journey presents an exciting adventure to visitors, especially Pokemon GO players. Because the event can be enjoyed in the real and virtual world.
The organizers have prepared a variety of fun activities, starting from presenting booths, games, Pikachu appearances, and other interesting events. Now during the event, gamers can play with more bonuses, do special research, and win a Batik-shirted Pikachu.
“Through this initiative, we hope to provide an unforgettable experience for tourists while introducing the beauty of Indonesia to the global stage,” added Rafael.
In fact, presenting Pikachu’s Indonesia Journey and Pikachu content using Batik, has been planned since 2022. At that time, the project emerged from a conversation between Omar Tellez, Vice President of Emerging Markets Niantic and Sandiaga Uno, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy.
